Aye piper, he did appear a bit dodgy but he was sound enough. I think the language barrier probably had a part to play in it, he spoke polish, we both barely speak English and all the place names are in Gaelic
I gave him a couple of tins, some curry, and a couple of tokes was all he could handle. Seems harmless enough. He spent a lot of time looking at my map in the morning. I should have let him keep it.

Spent an unplanned night in here on Saturday after turning up to another bothy up the road to find a family with 3 young kids had assumed residence.

Was my first time in this great wee place, was very impressed. Have just read back on all the comments and seems the lack of spade has been an ongoing problem because there wasn't one at the weekend there either.

Some birch branches left at the side of the bothy, 10kg coal, a bag of logs, and the cardboard box of litter and rubbish in the corner heated the place from 7pm until the next morning.

Will defo re-visit.

Two of us spent last weekend in this great wee bothy. Thought it would be more busy being so close to a road end but we only had the company of Mike Taylor on Friday and 3 guys from Elgin way on Saturday also visited by a couple of lads from the 'hoose doon the road' with a wheelbarrow of chopped wood for the fire (which was great both nights, good heat, no smoke, blazing) Only 1/2 hour late as the 3 from Elgin had just spent ages foraging and chopping a couple of logs  Ah well, the thought was there. Plenty of dead wood in the woods by the car parking area and also to the west of the bothy. Anyway, back to the bothy. Great nick, clean, tidy, absolutely no rubbish lying about. Fabulous sleeping rooms (2) upstairs and a 3 piece suite in the 'lounge'...affy posh. According to the placque on the wall it is maintained by The Corrieyariack Club but I couldn't find out anything about them on the internet. Had two great days on the hills at the back of the bothy and down at Garva Bridge. Super weather. Great weekend. :D

Melgarve is clean and tidy, there is now a huge spade there.
There is a broken skylight in the western upstairs room.

I was up again last night, the place is stunning in this weather, I was woken up by Forbes this morning bringing the ladders up to replace the missing glass in the skylight. I had the plastic from Loch Chiarain last year but it was not needed. Forbes is going to reputty the remaining skylights this week.
